Series: Abandoned The British Residency
The British Residency, an opulent mansion funded and furnished by the Nizams of Hyderabad, once was the embassy of the East India Company to the court of the Nizam of Hyderabad, and the residence of James Kirkpatrick, the British Resident, as well as his successors.
After independence in 1947 the coumpounds became part of a women's college, and the Residency remained largely unused and vacant, thus suffering neglect and damage.
In 2013 I had an incredible opportunity to access and shoot the Residency. Many thanks to Mrs Anuradha Reddy from the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage in Hyderabad!
